I am sure many of you saw last week’s announcement from IBM and Apple. IBM will deliver enterprise-class applications, secure cloud device management, and enterprise versions of AppleCare for the iPhone and iPad.
Any program that pushes iOS devices further into the mainstream enterprise is good for PowWow. Here’s why:
- According to Forrester, business users already prefer to use the iPad or iPhone as their device of choice for any activity other than sitting at their main work desk.
- IBM security, service and enterprise applications will make it easier for more Fortune 1000 companies to use Apple’s iPad as their only device, at their work desk, down the hall, in the field and during off hours.
- While IBM will deliver a set of commercial applications for the iPad, enterprises’ have thousands more internal applications. As we’ve seen from every one of our customers, employees need access to many of their enterprise applications on their mobile device, not just the one or two provided by IBM.
- In fact, our customers report they need up to 25% of their 5,000 to 10,000 applications on mobile, before they can effectively rely primarily on mobile devices for employee functions across the company.
Only PowWow transforms those internal applications for mobile in minutes, delivering a native user experience. End users can complement IBM’s offerings with required internal applications giving users a complete end-to-end work experience on iPad or iPhone.
