The workforce is changing and becoming more mobile. A new wave of capabilities is supporting organizations in adopting a more strategic approach to mobility, and apps are fundamental to this evolution. Ovum’s most recent IT Enterprise Insights survey shows that modernizing legacy systems is set to be an investment priority for IT departments over the next 18 months, with 22% of IT decision-makers citing this as a top priority. Considering the impact that mobility continues to have on the modern workforce, mobilizing and modernizing many of an organization’s legacy systems, apps, and workflows will be key to achieving this objective.

But this transformation can be difficult, especially given that mobile app development has typically required technical skills that are not in abundance within many organizations. Making the app development process easier, and empowering a broader set of employees with the capabilities to create apps and digitize workflows represents a key opportunity for organizations to not only mature efforts around enterprise mobility, but to also execute against broader business digital transformation objectives.
