Today, Apple released iOS 10, which includes a bevy of new features for both the users of its devices and services. At PowWow Mobile, we are super excited to announce not only our day one support for iOS 10 on iPhones and iPads, but also new features that will enable us to truly transform and mobilize the enterprise using iOS devices.
One of the major enterprise benefits of iOS 10 is that it will support AppConfig. Leveraging AppConfig policies and features, PowWow customers can utilize the AppConfig community to deploy their apps for iOS 10. This capability provides our customers with crucial enterprise mobility functionalities like single sign-on (SSO), per-app virtual private networking (VPN), and access controls.
PowWow has always supported deployment of mobile apps for leading enterprise mobility management (EMM) and mobile device management (MDM) vendors. Now with Apple’s support of AppConfig, mobile app deployment will become more standards based; thus removing a major obstacle that enterprises face in mobilizing the workforce.
When the Enterprise Met Siri
What’s really fun for us is that iOS 10 will enable developers to connect Siri to any iOS mobile app using SiriKit. By having this capability, PowWow customers can tap into these APIs directly using our SmartUX Studio.
Furthermore, allowing customers to add Personal Assistant capabilities to any mobile app developed with our platform can be a huge productivity enhancer. For example, users will have the ability to execute voice commands, such as:
- “Siri, show me my current open reqs” or
- “Siri, open my oldest time-off approval,”
This functionality will allow users to dive right into the section of the app they need to use, saving time and aiding efficiency.
Combine this Personal Assistant capability with the SSO capabilities provided by AppConfig, and it becomes easier to obtain data aggregation from multiple mobile apps. At the same time, touch interactions on mobile devices, especially phones, can be minimized.
If you’re an app junkie like me, than you may have seen, or used, some of the rich notifications features on Android that allow links to content within notifications, or link to other mobile apps. With iOS 10, Apple will provide very similar functionality. In addition to Wake Up and unlock functionality that will show messages and notifications, the 3D touch feature will allow users to press for more information. This capability will allow PowWow customers to make push notifications much more interactive and productive.
For example: on receiving a push notification for an overdue expense report approval, a manager can touch the notification and approve or disapprove the expense report within the notification. Or respond to emails and messages within the lock screen, directly from the notification, resulting in a more efficient workflow and a more productive user. It’s as simple as that.
