Mobility Spending Will Grow To $1.72 Trillion By 2021
Global spending growth on mobile hardware, software and services will gradually slow by 2021, when it will reach $1.72 trillion, according an estimate by researcher IDC. The growth rate for its 2016-2021 forecast period will be 2.7 percent annually, which shows a slowing from this year’s rate of 4.3 percent to $1.58 trillion from 2016.

A day ahead of the iPhone X official launch date, Apple’s outlook for the current quarter suggests production and sales of the smartphone should be strong. The Cupertino company posted diluted earnings of $2.07 a share, up 24 percent year-over-year. Revenue came to $52.6 billion, an increase of 12 percent year-over-year.

In a declining tablet market, Amazon’s is gaining market share with its set of Fire devices. According to IDC, Amazon grew its market share 38.7 percent in the third quarter. Amazon ended the third quarter with 10.9 percent share, up from 7.5 percent a year ago. Amazon also shipped 4.4 million units in the third quarter, up from 3.1 million a year ago. There were 40 million tablets shipped in the third quarter, down 5.4 percent from a year ago, said IDC.
